Gothic Style Party Dress

I used to think being gothic meant lots of eyeliner with many punk music and black color. Well, that is not what defines the trend. Many people have been called gothic for what they wear, not for what they feel.

With gothic apparel, you can work on your styles, wear trendy makeup and do what you would as a normal fashion setter. There have been many proficient approaches to mark gothic as the least trendy yet most easily recognizable wear. But with social media, your eye will miss nothing.

My first hit with gothic apparel became insignificant. I tried setting down my Halloween dress, but I couldn't. The reason was I needed to feel like a gothic before getting into the dress. Nobody knew this before, but being a gothic comes naturally; nobody can force it. It's more than long black skirts and shirts, eyeliner, and metal music.

Gothic Apparel

I have gathered a list for you to easily identify which gothic dress will go best for a party dress. The styles are unbeatable if worn properly like a true Goth. No, you don't need to make crows sit on your arm or carry an old-school music radio on your shoulders. It's like other fashion styles, but with shades of black, and darker makeup but merges enough with any party.

  • Steam-punk

As a steam-pink Goth, you will be wearing one black dress but with attached accessories. It may be a strap over the shoulders or a gold-colored bag. Steampunk is easier to style while imagining engineers, doctors, technicians, and others.

In the 1800s, they had no machines or anything close to that. There were various pockets in whatever clothes they wore to adjust everything they wanted to carry. That's how steampunk was made. Technical with a bit of Victorian fashion, steampunk is great for a nighttime party.

  • Cyber Goth

Cyber gothic wear is a little different from regular gothic apparel. The fashion is mixed with neon colors, but the style must include black somewhere. If you are attending a neon, in-door party, this type of style would be the best for you to stand out as a gothic and be in equilibrium with other fashion statements. Start with a little pale makeup, neon eyeshade, neon wigs, and a black dress with neon indulged in it, and you are ready as a cyber Goth of the party.

  • Victorian Goth

Victorian Goth is a freestyle gothic apparel wear. You can imagine it as a Bridgerton dressing but with everything in black. The corsets, multiple layers of dressing and frilled shirts, long boats under the dresses, this fashion has no end.

In earlier centuries, only women and men who belonged to the high class were allowed to wear these dresses. But with time, it became a fashion. The statement depicts a Victorian yet classy look. You can add a hat, dress, gloves, and parasols as a Victorian Goth look for a daytime get-together.

  • Geek Goth

It's a darker aesthetic, with darker hair shade, darker makeup, and black clothes. The Goths are geekier than other fashion preferences and make you feel more astounding and darker than others. Not to forget, they are also much more invested in how they feel rather than how they appear.

Greek Goth is more about the comfortable look than wearing multiple layers of fashion accessories. If you are invited to an open party, this look would be best for you as a gothic without any theme.

  • Hippie Goths

Lacy and light fabrics, long organza skirts, and tulle skirts wouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind when we talk about hippie Goths. We imagine a guy eating granola bars, hating violence, loving peace, and probably a greener environment with eco-friendly accessories.

Hippie Goths wear lighter clothes in darker shades. They are more into bringing peace rather than violence. An infinity necklace, diet plans, and tarot cards might be their favorite things. A small line of eyeliner with lighter eyeshade would be the best way to describe a hippie Goth.

  • Corp Goth

Corp Goth is the 21st-century style with the addition of black in the fashion. You don't need head-to-toe black. Just a few add-ons like a long black jacket when going out or a black velvet blazer. The Goth in you must be somewhere in the fashion also.

Corp Goths don't bother the day or time to wear their black apparel. It can be a long lace dress in black or a shoulder covering the black upper with a green velvet dress. There are no middle grounds for the wearers.

What exactly is gothic fashion?

It started in the early 1800 century where women were forced to wear black corsets and dresses as a sense of elite class. Some used to faint too, but with time, they learned that being a gothic is more about how you feel inside than showing what you are from the outside. There are a lot of fashion statements mixed with black dresses, which make it gothic fashion.

To Be a Goth Means…

"

To be a Goth, you don't have only to wear black, head to toe. You can give yourself a little space and match accessories with the dress. There are a lot of ways to express how you feel and what you wear. Some of them include,

  • Having Goth Characteristics like wearing black color in every party possible
  • Dressing in Gothic Clothing like I mentioned a few above
  • Being part of the community and joining massive gothic shows, watching gothic anime with a friend, clubs, and much more

A Final Note

Gothic doesn't wear long black skirts with black graphic shirts only. They can style it up with different accessories like a gold bag, brown belt, cross-body bags, parasols, and much more. You don't need to have a gothic appearance to show your gothic look at the party. Just the addition of black in your wear and dark or bold eyeliner will do just fine.
